According to the CDC, “Mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders in childhood can cause long-term problems that may affect the health and well-being of children, families, and communities.”

Counseling and therapy sessions are designed to help a child manage their symptoms and behaviors so they can function well at home, in school and in their community. Read our Case Study about Noah, an aggressive 7-year old.

At Comprehensive Rehab, play therapy is used. Play is a natural form of expression for children. Children who are struggling may not have the language to convey their feelings or situations; therefore, play gives them an outlet for expression. Play therapy consists of non-directive play, art, music, movement, storytelling, bibliotherapy and sand tray.

In addition to play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness are used in counseling sessions.
